Stability For The Soul

Many people in the world---maybe even you---are facing terrible storms in their lives.

Broken homes, joblessness, loneliness,  being bullied in school.

These things slash at the very fabric of our hope in Christ.

It may seem we are lost, adrift at sea in a small boat during a hurricane, how on earth will we be able to reach the shore safely?

Jesus disciples faced this kind of fear as well, while they were crossing a lake in their small ship, the weather took a frightening turn for the worse.

In desperation they went to Jesus for help, they cried out Lord save us we're going to drown, waking up from a nap he was taking, he rebuke them for their lack of faith.

Then he spoke to the storm and said peace be still and the storm was calmed, sometimes we think as the disciples that our challenges go unnoticed.

When your own personal world seems out of control and you think Jesus is a sleep, the answer is simple, thank God, that he is in the boat with you and he will give you, stability for your soul.

Easter comes but once a year
But when it does, we all know its here
Children filling themselves with chocolate
Dad's down the pub for a pint of beer!

We go to the church for the wine and bread
Dad's half asleep, and jerking his head
Baby sister is here too, munching away
On the free Easter egg that the Priest gave us today

But remember we must, that the Lord died for us
And ascended into heaven to give us fresh lives
For each and every one of us.

March, is when the rain falls,
The scent, or rather, aroma, of the flowers,
It catches in the wind, It's a sign of spring,
But it is not warm yet,
One would get frozen if one forgot their winter wear!
People whom appreciate life at this time,
Are often captivated by the new animals being born,
Under the moon,
Lambs, calves, frogs and rabbits,
The memories - They last a lifetime.

Does Christianity Work?

Does anything really happen when a person repents of sin and receives Christ by faith?

I can only tell you it worked in my own life.
I was reared on a farm in Kentucky, my parents weren't able to give me the advantages most young people enjoy today.

But one day I committed my life to Jesus Christ and He gave me a whole new direction for my life, my attitude toward others changed, I began to seek God's will instead of my own way.

No I didn't become perfect, but my life was changed, I've traveled over most of America in my life time, and I've never met anyone who regretted giving his or her life to Christ.

And I think its safe to say neither will you.

Good but not good enough

Sam was a good man, the pastor went on to tell the friends and family, gathered at his funeral.

He loved his family very much, he was faithful to his wife, he was an excellent father and grandfather, he served his country well in the armed forces, he was a great friend to those who knew him.

But with all that being said, the pastor went on to say, that Sam's good life and deeds were not enough to get him into heaven, which came as a shock to many.

Sam was a good man, but he could never be "Good enough," on his own accord the pastor added and neither can we, to get into heaven, by our own works and deeds.

We are not saved by good works, but by God's work.

By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.      -----Ephesians  2: 8 -----

And that has nothing to do with our human efforts.  "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift."  That saves us when we can't save ourselves. Have you received His wonderful gift in your life?
