DANDELIONS
When dandelions try to take over your yard as they do mine sometimes, the first thing I think of now, is getting rid of them.
How Interesting, we spend time and money on cultivating all the other flowers in our yard , but fail to see the beauty in these cheerfully yellow flowers.
Though this may seem hard for us to believe, their presence is actually deemed good for the farmers and for our backyard gardens because they attract bees.
I venture to say,Dandelions are more popular with the birds and bees than with us people. This perennial flower is often thought of as annoying weeds, that somehow needs to be pulled up by the roots and destroyed as soon as possible.
Bumble bees, honey bees, beetles, hover flies and even butterflies use the nectar from the flowers as food. House Sparrows and Goldfinches love eating their seeds.
The Dandelion with all its enemies has learned how to survive despite mans most vigorous attempts at destroying them.
Dandelions will sneak into your flower garden and min-gal with the other flowers, they will try growing in the
cracks and crevices of your side-walks and drive-way, and many other clever places, they' do what ever it takes to survive.
When I was a kid growing up in Kentucky, we thought it was fun to pick some of them once their blooms died and blow on them and watch the fluffy seedlings disappear into the wind.
Of course our yards of yesterday were never manicured and groomed like the ones we have today. We thought it was cute to have the dandelion growing in our yard to help cover the bare spots.
And their presence helped mother somewhat in keeping the floors in our house clean from all the dirt, 10 kids could track in, on a rainy day.
So you can see from my point of view as a kid, no matter what poplar opinion might have to say about this con trivial flower; the beauty Dandelions brought to our yards, was a welcome site, each spring and early summer.

Joshua 1:8 - This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

THOUGHT
FOR YOUR DAY
"Life is wasted
if we do not grasp the glory of the cross, cherish it for the treasure that it
is, and cleave to it as the highest price of every pleasure and the deepest
comfort in every pain. What was once foolishness to us—a crucified God—must become
our wisdom and our power and our only boast in this world.” - John Piper

RED BUDS
Most people never forget the first time they see a red bud tree in full bloom. In my case, the memorable occasion took place in a valley near our home.
The morning sun was shining on a group of nearly a dozen red buds with flowers fully unfurled, setting off a spectacular show of pink fireworks.
Red buds thrive throughout the valleys and ravines of Southeastern Kentucky. In early spring, painting the landscape pink.
Their showy flowers are pea-like and rosy pink with a purplish tinge. Flowers develop before the leaves in spring, emerging in clusters along the branches.
Every year, Southerners patiently look for the first signs of spring, when their blooms appear.
Along with Red Buds, other notable trees are beginning their awakening to Spring ,the lovely willows and silver maples, the red maples, and by April the beautiful Dogwood tree are all putting on their grand finally of beauty for all to see.
Not to be left out of the scheme of things, the little frogs start their chorus of singing from the brooks and streams. These tiny amphibians little fellows sing loudly, creating quite a chorus at dusk!
The chorus the frogs sing is hard to describe. It sounds a little bit like someone is running their thumb along a comb.
I've heard they sing because they are happy .
Springtime is a happy time, and to be privileged to be part of the Earth and its critters awakening from winter and announce their arrival is phenomenal the frogs the trees, the flowers all producing glorious and amazing smells and sounds .
What more could a Country boy like me ask for? Just to be able to see all the splendor that God has created , Money can't buy anything as Marvelous.

receive condemnation upon themselves.” (Romans 13:1-2)

Things God ask each of us to do?
8. Love others.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It
does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others,
it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects,
always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails,” 1
Corinthians 13:4-8.

WHIPPOORWILLS
Our family would sit
out in the yard early in the spring and listen for the first whippoorwills
call.
Dad said it was safe to plant corn without
fear of frost, after the whippoorwills start singing.
Mother said she
loved listening for that first sound of their singing in the spring , but for
some reason the whippoorwills call made her feel lonesome.
She related the
loneliness to a song she had heard by
Hank Williams titled, "I'm So Lonesome I could Cry."
Where the first verse starts off with; Hear
that lonesome whippoorwill
He sounds too blue
to fly
The midnight train
is whining low
I'm so lonesome I
could cry.
Most Southerners
born before air-conditioning, just shut off the world and fell asleep, when it
was bedtime.
But the
plaintive cries of the Whippoorwills made it a bit challenging, because
they would often cry until late at
night.
Whippoorwills nested
on the ground and slept during the day, so they were in no hurry to go to bed
it seems until it got daylight.
Nighttime was their
favorite time to use their superior vision to find and devour insects repeating their name between bites .
Often I listen for
them now, standing on the back deck of our home, trying to block the noise pollution of sirens
and traffic and planes.
On those nights when
I am blessed and able to separate what is made by man and what is made by God,
I hear them once again.

FROM THE WORD OF GOD
In the same way, the
Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but
the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And
he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit
intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
