WHO WILL SHOW US ANY GOOD?

In the world we live in today, many say where is the good and joyful things of life.

The front pages of our news papers and the top stories on the internet or television seem to focus on crime accidents politics, the economy and prominent people behaving badly.

Our conversations at work and home often dwell on these as well.

Its enough to discourage anyone ,
where can we turn for better news?

The Bible says we can encourage ourselves in the word of God by turning to it.

Psalms 4: 6-8
There be many that say, who will show us any good? Lord lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for thou, Lord only makest me dwell in safety.

During troubled times Gods word surpasses all worldly wisdom, ponder it in your heart apply it to your life there you will find a place of safe dwelling in troubled times.

WHEN OUR DESIRES TURN TO SIN

Our creator, who designed us in His image, knows what it is we long for.

Through out our life, all of us experience longings. We yearn for circumstances or people to be different and crave things we do not have.

Hankering, hungering, longing, thirsting, yearning---all of these terms can be used to describe our desire.

Eve yearned for the fruit of the forbidden tree; her desire became so strong that she took matters into her own hand to get what she wanted.

Temptation its self is not sin, but acting on our own against God's word is.

Stop and compare your desires with the truth of the scriptures and let go of any that do not meet His standard.

Then you will spend less time praying to to be for-given.

ITS ALL ABOUT J-E-S-U-S

"Getting across the river."

All of us have sinned and our transgressions demand atonement. Because of this, God the Father sent His son to die in our place and pay our sin debt in full.

Christ's death on the cross paved the way for us to go to heaven. Because He died, not only can we live for eternity, but we can also  have a personal relationship with the Lord while we are here on the earth.

Have you ever acknowledged your sin against God?  Are you willing to ask Him to for-give you.  If you are willing to confess your sin, turn from it, and yield your life to the Lord. The Holy Spirit will come into your heart and seal you for ever as a child of God.

When you think of what Jesus has endured  to atone for your sins, the only appropriate response is an humble gratitude of thanks, will you pray that the spirit of God will penetrate any arrogance or resistance  you may have, so that you can truly acknowledge, Him privately then publicly.

If you will, you can safely cross the river between this life and eternity.

ARE YOU A GOOD LISTNER?

Just how do you listen to God's word? Scriptures contain critical information for every human life, but people approach it very differently.
Nonbelievers as well as Christians, can listen passively without intending to apply, what they hear.
A cluttered mind, or a preoccupied mind, can leave little or no room, to let God's word grow, in your "heart".
All of us, would like to have His word hid in our hearts and that is good, its a first step in the right direction, to becoming a better hearer, of His "word."
God can do great things, through someone whose mind is like fertile soil, where the word of God can grow, as a tender plant, even a young child, who is willing to listen and learn will be "transformed".
Listen carefully, resist all out side clutter, evaluate your life against what you are hearing in scripture, apply the truths, that the Holy Spirit impresses upon your heart and you can and will become a better listener.
Matthew Chapter 13 verses 1-9 describe how you can listen and let the word of God take root in your "heart".

Spring Sunshine

After all the chills and winter blues,
The staying warm and staying in,
Meetings indoors for outside is cold,
Then comes the spring sunshine,

The sun breaks in like a door open wide,
With the burst of sunlight,
That lasting and warm,
Bringing smiles back on peoples faces,

While in the chilling season it brings,
Us all to hibernate and stay in,
Not getting out much as weather is cold,
Until the spring sunshine brings us back outdoors,

It is the time for new growth,
It is the time for new beginnings,
It is the time for buds to bloom,
It is the time for nature to sound its sounds of nature again,

For all the while when we shelter from the chills,
Winter is chilling,
And springs getting ready,
For all the new beginnings,
Brought forth from the old,
Of last seasons blossoms,
Spring will bring new growth from its roots,
And bloom again with spring sunshine rays,

Spring will start again,
And a new year to begin it with,
That starts with first,
The spring sunshine,
Of first days of spring,
That brings the smile back,
To all our faces,
With warm sun rays,
Of spring sunshine.
