Joshua 1:8 - This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Good but not good enough
Sam was a good man, the pastor went on to tell the friends and family, gathered at his funeral.
He loved his family very much, he was faithful to his wife, he was an excellent father and grandfather, he served his country well in the armed forces, he was a great friend to those who knew him.
But with all that being said, the pastor went on to say, that Sam's good life and deeds were not enough to get him into heaven, which came as a shock to many.
Sam was a good man, but he could never be "Good enough," on his own accord the pastor added and neither can we, to get into heaven, by our own works and deeds.
We are not saved by good works, but by God's work.
By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. -----Ephesians 2: 8 -----
And that has nothing to do with our human efforts. "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift." That saves us when we can't save ourselves. Have you received His wonderful gift in your life?
